The recommended use level for NeoCide* PC-300 preservative is 0.05~0.1% by weight (15~30ppm) in buffers, diluent, and detergents, and 0.1%~0.2% (30~60 ppm) for clinical chemistry and immunoassay, enzyme, antibody. PC-300 is synergistic with most of biocides like Bronidox and can replace of Sodium Azide. Warning: This product should not be used as a preservative for food or beverage additives. | ||||

Chemical Identification
The active ingredients of the Neocide® PC-300 in vitro diagnostic reagent-specific bacteriostatic agent are a mixture of two isothiazolinone derivatives, including 5-Chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT) and 2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MIT), in a ratio of 3:1.
The product composition also includes stabilizers (alkyl carboxylate stabilizers) and solvents (modified glycol), with the main raw materials sourced from reputable chemical companies.

Application
The stability of the Neocide® PC-300 bacteriostatic agent in product applications is mainly influenced by pH. The bacteriostatic agent is more stable in acidic environments (pH<7), but sensitive to temperature in weak alkaline environments (preferably pH<8.5). In such cases, it is generally required to store the final product at temperatures below 25oC. For pH-related research in applicable products, please conduct additional experiments based on the product's characteristics. The advantages of Isothiazolinone are broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal properties. The disadvantage is that the degradation rate of Isothiazolinone increases with the increase of pH value in the solution (CMIT is not heat-resistant and alkali-resistant, but MIT is heat-resistant and alkali-resistant).
The compound thiadiazolone is relatively stable at low temperatures, but its degradation rate increases with the increase in solution temperature. At pH 7, it rapidly degrades under natural light (t ½ = 322h). It is recommended to store the raw material and finished product away from light.
Solutions containing sulfides and iron ions accelerate the photodegradation of isothiazolinone. Divalent ions such as copper, zinc, manganese, magnesium, and phosphate can inhibit the chemical degradation of isothiazolinone
