Description:
Tris HCl (CAS#11185-53-1), also known as Tris hydrochloride or tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane hydrochloride, is a white crystalline substance that is easily soluble in water. It has no irritating odor. Tris hydrochloride is commonly referred to as the second-generation Good's buffer, which has better solubility and stability compared to traditional Good's buffers.
Application:
Tris HCl is a very important biological buffer widely used in the field of biotechnology, such as electrophoresis and protein bioengineering.
Tris HCl has a pKa of 8.1, which makes it very suitable for biological product formulations.
Tris hydroxymethyl aminomethane hydrochloride buffer can be used in various biological applications, including culture media, electrophoresis separation, and diagnostic reagent formulations.
It provides a stable weak alkaline environment (pH 7.0-9.1), and the pH of all buffer solutions depends on temperature and concentration.
For Tris HCl buffer, for every 1°C increase in temperature, the pH increases by approximately 0.03 units, and for every 10-fold dilution, the pH decreases by 0.03-0.05 units.
