MES Monohydrate is a very important biological buffering agent, widely used in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits, and PCR diagnostic kits. Its buffering agent has a pKa value close to physiological pH and is applied to active amino acids.

Separation of brain microtubule proteins by gel chromatography column and composition of mobile phase; MES cannot be absorbed when passing through the cell membrane, but can pass through Ultraviolet rays, this type of biological buffer is commonly used in plant cell culture media.
